Plant One Seed

For the past few weeks, I've been seeing tweets referencing Tyler Perry's "Plant One Seed" speech. Intrigued, I decided to head over to YouTube to see it for myself. In short, Perry is explaining his road to success and letting everyone know that they can do it too. His method was simple, plant one seed & have faith in God.

When I finished listening to his inspirational video, I thought to myself: "Well duh." But I didn't mean that in a sassy, sarcastic way. I meant it in sense that it's something everyone should already know. However, that's not the case. There are many entrepreneurs (especially on social media) promoting so many of their businesses or always starting a new one. As a person who's scattered brain and has a short attention span, I've always believed that you pick one thing and focus solely on that. It's okay to have other dreams and what not but you can't do them all at once. Well you can, but they will not flourish as they would if you would focus on just one dream at a time.

I see many people on social media that have their hands in what I believe one too many things. This is not coming from a place of jealousy. No, I'm not a hater. But as an observer, I always wonder how well are their businesses really doing. And I say that because I will see a person promote a business venture one week and about three weeks later, they are on to the next thing. I get the whole trying to build an empire thing. But Rome was not built in a day. It was built brick by brick, one structure at time.

Stop spreading yourself thin. No, I personally don't dream of being entrepreneur (learned that I can fulfill my purpose in other ways, more on that later). But I do have many goals I would like to accomplish. However, I can't accomplish them with all my heart if my head is in too many places at once. You can't be the best version of yourself if your head is not completely in the game.

Pick one thing that you truly want to accomplish. Forget about all of your other goals for the time being. Choose the one that's buried in your heart and you just can't let go. Let that be your [first] seed and water it. Take care of it. Do all that you need to do to make it grow. Focus solely on that one seed and watch what happens. Nothing will happen overnight, but if it's something that you truly want and meant for you, by the grace of God, it will happen.

Your garden will grow in time. All it takes is just one seed & everything else will fall into place.
