Happy April: Your Dreams Are What You Make Them

You know a quote that I hate? This one right here: "If your dreams don't scare you, they aren't big enough." It's one that I constantly see floating around social media. And soon as I see it, I immediately roll my eyes and keep scrolling.

But I didn't always do that. Actually, that quote had me think a lot. Maybe a little too much actually about my dreams. Some may consider that a good thing. But as a person who's constantly indecisive about everything, it wasn't. It just brought on more concerns.

Were my dreams big enough? Am I thinking too small? Is that all I want to do? Should I go further? Should I desire more for my life? So many questions but yet no answers. Confliction at its best.

Then it hit me as I was driving to work one day: your dreams are what YOU make them. In other words, your dream is yours. It can be as big as you want it. It can be small. But small is honestly subjective. What someone may consider mediocre might be a dream come true to someone else.

And who says your dreams should scare you? If they scare you, maybe you shouldn't do it. Of course there's fears that occur when pursuing the dream of yours. But for it to actually scare you? Nah. Your dreams should empower you. Your dreams should encourage you. Your dream should enlighten you and others.

Who says you have to be the top CEO of ABC? I mean, if that's your dream then go for it. But if you are much happier being manager, receptionist, stay at home mom, a housewife, or whatever it is, then that's okay too. Don't let anyone diminish your desires just because it's not in line with theirs. We have to follow our path. We have to follow our own dreams. We have to be true to ourselves and our deepest desires.

Once we do that, we will all be complete.

Be blessed and prosper,
