Living Life With Purpose

Ever since I was little, I knew I wanted a dope life. I, for one was excited about adulthood and for all the possibilities life had to offer. My career was constantly changing as I grew. From being an actress to a meteorologist, one thing was for certain: I wanted to be extraordinary.

Then occasionally, reality would set in.

There were times I wanted to work in a bank and follow the footsteps of most of relatives but that soon shifted. But it's when I got to college is where all my dreams kinda came a halt. I tangoed with real life as well as majors and somehow fell into the just get a good job trap.

But I stayed in college longer than I should have because I wanted to be, do, and have more than just a 9-5. I wanted a career that I could enjoy for the rest of my life. I wanted something that I wouldn't mind waking up at the crack a dawn for. I wanted something with meaning. I wanted something with purpose.

So, what did I do? What I always do: changed my mind and my direction. I began searching for fulfillment. What feeds my soul. Ultimately, it led me to here, where counseling and writing meet. I'm still on my journey but I'm no longer searching. Now, I'm on the path to fulfillment.

But choosing a meaningful career isn't the only way to live a life of purpose and fulfillment. In fact, it's only piece of the puzzle. Once I started finding fulfillment in my career choice, I started noticing other areas that were/are lacking.

There's more to life than just working a 9-5 that you hate. There's more to life than just coming home and doing the same ol' routine. We should live life as if we're doing it purpose.

No more shoulda, coulda, woulda. No more maybe next time or next life. No more excuses. Just do it. Life can be beautiful only if you allow it to be. What makes you happy? What gives you joy? What gives you purpose?

Once you find it, live it. Walk in all of your glories. Revel in all of your purposes. Be extraordinary. Life becomes much easier when you're living with purpose and just existing.

Create a dope life because we all will get old someday and we will regret all the things we never did.

Peace & Light,
