To Thy Own Self Be True
Shakespeare was onto something when he wrote this.
I have a confession. I've struggled with my identity and who I am as a person my whole life. The person you see tweeting the randomness of life's realities or blogging dope, inspirational shit wasn't always me.
Truth be told, I was never comfortable with who I am. Actually, I spent a good amount of my life not knowing who I was. I was everything people wanted me to be. But I was never just me.
I never realized that I lived other people's lives until I started college; that place where you find yourself. It was there when I realized I had not the slightest clue who I was. Because of this, my identity was based on what I should be, not who I am or wanted to be.
So I went searching. I wanted to find myself. And little by little, I started to get to know me. I was finally learning who Soleil was. It was and still is freeing. Everyday I'm learning more about who I am and God, it is amazing.
It's liberating when you find yourself and be true to who you are. That's what we all should do. That is what we need to do. We should be nothing more than ourselves. Nobody else.
Don't live up to someone's idea of you. Be true to yourself. Honor your desires. Honor yourself. If people don't like it or agree, fuck them. You owe to yourself to be everything that you are and want to be. If you don't know yourself, go find yourself. Get comfortable with who you are because you're stuck with it for the rest of your life. Because of this, it is essential that we live our truth.
Be true to yourself. You were born an original. Keep it that way.
Peace and Light,
